Two Paws Forward Dog Training
Who are we?
Hi- I’m Tara!
Dog enthusiast.
Avid reader.
Cookie connoisseur.
Dogs have always been in my life, though I wasn’t as invested in training until a fluffy, sassy Australian Shepherd puppy, Maverick, stole my heart and my shoes. He was my sidekick throughout college while I completed degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Maverick started displaying behavioral sensitivities toward dogs, guests, and moving objects and this threw a wrench into my understanding of dogs and their behavior patterns. So, my journey began with enlisting the help of some dog training professionals that quickly became friends and mentors. With their encouragement, hundreds of hours of working hands on with a variety of dogs, and their support, I received my Certificate for Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). Learning the “why” behind animals’ behavior, seeking creative solutions to address behavior patterns, learning how we can communicate more effectively with our four legged friends, and striving to continue educating myself has been a theme throughout my journey. I am thankful for the wonderful opportunities I have received to deepen my knowledge and connect with my clients, support other professionals in their journey, and collaborate to enrich our training community. I love sharing my passion for positive, reward based methods with fellow dog lovers.
When not working with my clients, you can find me lounging in my hammock with a good book, playing with my pets, or trying out a new recipe!

“Tara is a phenomenal teacher/trainer for humans and dogs alike. No matter whether you and your dog have been a successful team yet or not, she will help you enrich your relationship, and show you how to achieve your goals, effectively and without force. My dog loves to “go to school” now, and so do I. Tara is 5 star all the way, all the time.”

“Tara is an incredibly skilled dog trainer! Her classes are very informative and hands on and we learned a lot as a family. She truly loves dogs and took such great care of our two dogs when we were on a trip…even handling an emergency when one dog got sick! She truly is the best!”

“Tara is INCREDIBLE. I won’t work with anyone else! Tara taught me how to work with my reactive dog and help him manage his triggers! Having this help with my rescued boy made a world of difference. I am so grateful for Tara and the work she does!”

“Tara is fantastic! My sweet almost 4 year old Cattle Dog Mix unfortunately struggles with leash reactivity. From an owners perspective, it was very hard to deal with and not feel like it’s all your fault. Tara, empowered me as an owner and made me realize that I was not the only owner who dealt with this and that my dog being leash reactive did not mean my dog was aggressive. Tara said that my dog just had big emotions that he had to learn how to deal with. Since training with Tara, my dog has made leaps and bounds with his reactivity and is walking so much better while on leash. Thank you Tara! Your training and time has been life changing for both my dog and I!”
